Henry Czerwonka

Hello there fellow internet dweller! My name is Henry Czerwonka. I’m an 19-year-old award winning filmmaker from Cincinnati, OH and I’ve loved telling stories for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was young I’ve wanted to find ways to engage those around me in something that I could create and storytelling and filmmaking became my outlet. That love so far has translated into numerous award-winning short films, feature films, and music videos.

In 2015 I wrote and directed my first widely promoted short film at the ripe old age of 15. The film was called “After The Blitz" and it was the story of a young girl living in London during the Blitz attacks of World War II. Despite the fact that I had no clue what I was doing most of the time the film was accepted into film festivals across the country and this further reassured me that I might be okay at this whole film thing. I got right to work on my next short and in early 2017 I released my second widely promoted short film, "Seasonally Challenged" the story of a man who is unable to keep track of his seasons and holidays. The film was met with festival acclaim nationwide and won the Snow Lion Award and Best Original Screenplay at the 2017 Golden Lion Awards, and was nominated for Best Director at the Stardance Youth Short Film Festival in Los Angeles.

I then got to work writing my next short film which would be called "Paper Chains." This somewhat autobiographical film follows a young girl searching for a friend on a school playground and the film is told through the visual metaphor of paper chains representing friendship and connection. The film was nominated for Best Student Film at the 2019 International Christian Film Festival in Orlando, Florida.

I’m currently in post-production for my fourth short film, a sci-fi drama titled "Analog Rainbow" that will explore the themes of family, nostalgia, and mental illness. "Analog Rainbow" is set for public release in early 2020.

It’s been a crazy few years but I’m just as passionate as ever to tell powerful and human stories and I can’t wait to see what comes next…
